"Hike up your skirt and hop on my back," Jenny said to me this evening, after work.
"What the hell?" I asked, as I hiked up my skirt.
"Now get on my back."
"Now wrap one leg around my leg from the front, and your other around my leg, from the back."
"Um. Okay."
"Now, dance."
"No. No. No. You'll never earn any money as a breakdancer at this rate."
What the hell is she thinking? I can't carry a tune. I have no rhythm.
"Look," she says, "I'm just starting work on a plan B, in case this library science career thing leaves us destitute."

My entire family gathered in Cape Cod last weekend to celebrate my Dad's 70th birthday, and his brother's 60th birthday. The highlights of the weekend included:
--> Discovering that my half-sisters are really, really cool! Rhona is a labor lawyer, on the side of the workers.
--> Trying to convert conservative relatives to the "freedom of speech-- freedom of press" mindset. Filtering software is wrong. Censorship is wrong.
--> My cousin Paul's incredible tattoo of a Kandinsky painting on his left arm. And the resulting discussion of copyright infringement with all of the lawyers in the family.

I now own season 2 of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" on DVD. Jenny is painting a portrait of Angel & Buffy for the living room. If anyone (who I know-- not weird people who've just seen my website, but have never actually met me) wants to come over and watch Buffy, just email me! 22 episodes plus extra footage = hours of entertainment.

I just checked my iPod order from 7/17/2002, and discovered the status changed to "shipped," and it should arrive either tonight or tomorrow! How exciting is this? Very.

The cats keep moving their water-bowls into the middle of the room. It'd be okay, except that I keep tripping on them and spilling water all over, and the wood floors are now starting to warp. They pee on the floor in the bathroom, they destroy the sofa, they've chewed through a bunch of ethernet cables and one mouse cord. Kitty-freaks! They get plenty of attention and "Wellness" organic catfood, and they're old enough now that they should be pretty chill. But really, they're little energy balls.

I just saw this blog written by a teenage girl totally hooked on Weezer. This is so what the web was meant to be. I totally liked reading that diary about how she likes the wifebeater shirts at Express and how her mom says she shouldn't call them wifebeaters, and the whole thing just epitomized the high school years. I feel like such a voyeur, and at the same time enjoying all this un-censored, seemingly taboo writing. It's like sex in public, only more kinky! Like sex in public, with feathers and ice-cubes.

It's still new to me too. I think people just like the name as much as anything :) I like the post & publish feature.
