David and Adriana noticed iPalimpsest's one year anniversary! I would never have remembered - birthdays, anniversaries, deadlines - for me it's all a blur. In response to their favorite post, hike up your skirt, I'd like to invent a new dance. This dance is best done when chasing after the bus. The steps are mid-canter, mid-waddle and it is best done while carrying bags of books, gym clothes and sundry items clenched in both fists, with a metrocard held between your teeth. Hey, I never said it was pretty, but it does require feats of balance and coordination rarely witnessed on the street.

According to a baby name site Gina means queen, or ruler of all. No wonder Zoe's pissed off, since she's always been the de facto cat princess of the household. It makes me think too that Gina might be pregnant after all, even though she looks too skinny, since pregnant cats are known as queens. On the same baby name site, I found the top ten most popular names by decade. Jennifer, not surprisingly, was one of them for the 1970's. Strangely, Mildred was one of the top ten for three decades! (1900, 1910, and 1920).
In other news, I helped a kid learn how to buy a bb gun on ebay today. It warms the heart.

Most kittens will just attack a plant by peeing on it, but this site has an interesting play-by-play of Kato (kitten) vs. Kona (plant). Will the coffee plant suffer? Oh no!

It's been 54 days since we found Gina. Cats have a 60-62 day gestation period. If she conceived the day we found her, she'll be having babies in 6-8 days. If she conceived before we found her, it could be sooner.
Since she still seemed to be coming out of heat when we first found her (heat doesn't always go away immediately after they're pregnant), we've probably got the full 6-8 days left.
On another note, after she's become pregnant, until heat goes away, she can continue to have more eggs fertilized. Sometimes, the kittens in a single litter have multiple fathers. Gina's already quite a bit past this point, but it's even possible that her kittens were sired by multiple toms.

Turns out that Gina, the cat we found at West Farms Library, is most likely pregnant. I've got to cancel that spay appointment I have for Thursday. Seems we're too late. What a bad girl she is. If any of you want a free kitten, please email. The Humane Society will even spay/neuter and vaccinate your new kitten for free. I'll help you make the appointment.

I'm getting in touch with my inner crafty person. Last night I made a vinyl record bowl (pictures forthcoming) and I want to make a little crocheted skull, a la getcrafy.com. We also found a giant green bust of a head that I want to paint with a camouflage pattern (or a fractal pattern, as Kate suggested). In my search for a camouflage pattern, I came across Mena's revolt dress on sewwrong.com. Now if I could just figure out how to thread the bobbin on our sewing machine...

All about gay advertising: On this site is an article about Earthlink's new LGBT-friendly commercials, created because of the following statistic:
"A new Forrester Research study says that 80% of gay men are Internet users compared to 70% of heterosexual men, while 76% of lesbians are online compared with 69% of straight women."
