Halle Berry's new Catwoman costume is such a waste of a potentially good onscreen comic character costume. She's also not getting her own Bond spin-off as Jinx. I was looking forward to the Jinx spin-off, and to Catwoman potentially being a fun movie, despite last year's Thanksgiving when I watched Monster's Ball and Die Another Day over the same weekend and just saw too much naked Halle.

Gina (the cat) has been missing from my parents' house for about a week now. Our friend Sarah had her baby and is keeping up a Baby Blog.

According to our stats, someone found us by searching for "brussel sprouts butter costume." Luckily, Halloween is near or I would be seriously scandalized by whatever fetish involves dressing like buttered brussel sprouts.

My first Friday Five:
1. Name five things in your refrigerator.
Carrots from three or four weeks ago that are all peeled and ready to be juiced but are probably also a little slimey, beets from the green market in the Bronx, apple cider, radishes and brussel sprouts
2. Name five things in your freezer.
Corn tortillas, vegetarian sausage links, coffee, disgusting whole-wheat bread that we don't like but can't seem to throw away and butter
3. Name five things under your kitchen sink.
Extra plastic bags, paint brushes, old socks soon to be used as rags, a few pencils and flower pots
4. Name five things around your computer.
Scanner, printer, cable modem, right now one of the cats is stepping on the scanner, a basil plant
5. Name five things in your medicine cabinet.
Band-aids, nail clippers, nail polish, suntan lotion and bubble bath

Free Stuff!
Also, this Sunday October 19th at 9:30am meet and walk 5 miles with the American Cancer Society's Making Stides Against Breast Cancer Walk. No need to raise money, but if you do, that's extra good.

What's this Marriage Protection Week crap? Marriage doesn't need to be protected from her or me. Protect Alaska from the Republicans. Or protect Bush from pretzels. Protect the Earth from SUVs. Marriage will be just fine.
They claim, "There are those who want to redefine marriage to include two men, or two women, or a group of any size or mix of sexes . . . Their efforts are intended to force, by law, 97% of Americans to bow down to the desires of the approximately 3% who are homosexuals." http://www.marriageprotectionweek.com/purpose.asp
First, their argument doesn't even make sense. Logically, it's wrong. They base their argument on the assumption that all LGBT people are "those who want to redefine marriage to include two men, or two women, or a group of any size or mix of sexes" and they assume that no heterosexuals want to redefine marriage. These assumptions are both false.
They don't cite a source for their 97% and 3% statistics. Statistics should be backed by multiple objective and authoritative sources.
It's all so inane. It's like they're trying to claim the sky is green. Duh. It's not. Their statement doesn't even deserve an argument. But then, it's like a sizable bunch of people suddenly start to believe them.
That's the thing about the majority. By definition, the most peaceful 2% of the population is a minority. The smartest 2% is a minority. The tallest and prettiest are all minorities. Do you really want to be average?
They fight and fight to not allow "homosexuals" to get married... I met a few happily married lesbians-- married to transgendered people, whose birth certificates still say male. Not only is their argument against same-sex marriage wrong for so many reasons, it's also an impossible argument, when you considered the fluidity of gender.

My dream Halloween costume would be Batgirl, inspired by the Batgirl was a librarian site. I'll file this under "Someday when I have $400 to blow on a costume" There's a cheaper version available, but I think I'll stick with my original idea, Vicki from Small Wonder! Special thanks to David for his costume input!

I missed The First Annual Post a Picture of a Cat to Your Blog Day, which was October 1st, but we have standing pictures of Mel and Zoe on our home page, so we observed it indirectly. Anyway, I think that the spirit of the day was a just a tad bit self-mocking. I would like to see a book of the stories behind all the O'Reilly covers from the editors' perspective (beyond the utilitarian explanations in the back).

Found items I've found stuff that could be listed here, but never hung on to it. It's like reading other people's mail. Crazy how much of it involves libraries or was found in library books.
The world as a blog is a good way to waste an afternoon. I think it's all the new postings to blogs (on Blogger?) from the moment the page loads.
