Mayor West

The village mayor who challenged New York law by attempting to marry gay couples will face trial, the state's highest court ruled Friday.

I thought this was over last year when a town court judge dismissed the charges, but Ulster County Court Judge J. Michael Bruhn reinstated the charges earlier this year, ruling that the criminal case against West was not about the constitutionality of gay marriage, but whether West lived up to his oath of office to uphold the law. Gay Books

Louisiana has become the third state to consider placing restrictions on children's books with gay themes.

State Rep. A.G. Crowe, R-Slidell, has filed legislation calling on all public libraries to remove books that feature same-sex parents or gay characters from the children's book sections and confine it "exclusively for adult access and distribution."

Gay Books

Two days after Oklahoma lawmakers passed a resolution telling publicly funded libraries that books written for children about gay families should be placed in Adults Only sections, Tulsa libraries have moved the books from "impressionable eyes".

"King and King" is a picture book for little kids. Kids and parents look for picture books in the picture book section. The only way kids from LGBT families are going to find these books is if they especially ask for them, outing themselves in what is clearly a not tolerant community. This isn't fair.

Also, when the books don't circulate because nobody knows to look for them in these weird sections, I bet they use the low circulation statistic to justify not buying additional ones.

Bad breakfast

A few mornings ago, over breakfast, I looked to my right, and our awful little cat was squatting and peeing right next to the dining table. We'd finally found a solution-- clean gym clothes. Apparently, he doesn't like to pee near clean gym clothes, so we just line the floor with the clothes, in the places he uses instead of his litter box. But experimented and took them away! Pancakes and cat pee are a bad combination.

"What's a library, dad?"
"Oh, it's just a place where homeless people come to shave and go BM."
