Vegan Marshmallows

Our lives were so touched by the recent vegan marshmallow scandal. We first noticed that Whole Foods hadn't had the wonderful Tiny Trapeze marshmallows for a while. It seemed odd, but they cost a fortune, and I wasn't ready to re-finance the apartment for a pack of 6 marshamallows, so while we felt the loss, it wasn't so profound, at that point.

Then, we went to 'Snice and ordered hot chocolate and noticed they'd skimped us on the marshmallows. Weird, we thought.

A few weeks later our favorite Teany Rocky Road vegan brownies didn't have marshmallows, either. "What's with this town," we thought, and wondered if the marshmallow shipping trucks were on strike.

Finally, today, noticing again the lack of marshmallows on our 'Snice hot chocolate, and the lack of marshmallows for sale, we asked! Turns out, the "vegan" gelatin wasn't vegan or kosher.

New iPalimpsest

We switched hosting companies, and we're still working out all the details of the new *improved" iPalimpsest. We still have the domain name, kateandjenny.com, and it should be working soon. Thanks to anyone who emailed and asked where we went! We love knowing we have readers out there.

Kingdom of Paradise-- PSP

This game rocked. I really wanted the Prince of Persia PSP game, until I realized it was just Warrior Within (from last year)! The new one, the Two Thrones, isn't available for handhelds. So, to fill the void, I wanted a game with sword fighting and exploring... and was completely blown away by how good this game was.

I knew the graphics would be good, and I love the way PSP fits perfectly in my hands. The controls are just right, like Sony custom designed them for me. I still wasn't prepared for how Shinbu's quest to save his village from the nearby armies that began attacking when he was out-of-town, would draw me in.

I do still hope the next Prince of Persia title comes out on PSP, too.

Sims PSP

Gamespot gave Sims 2 for PSP a pretty bad review, as did many users, mostly because of slow load times and their new storyline. I've played the PC version, with a few of the expansion packs, Sims Pets and Sims vacation, and I also played a PS2 version of Sims. I loved the PC version, with the expansion packs, best.

I got attached to my families, raised their children and pets with them, buried their loved ones, dealt with the ghosts that came back and designed their homes. We got promoted and demoted together, threw parties with guests passing out from all the BBQ, and in one case, started a garden so big we became more like a farming commune than a suburban household.

The PSP version doesn't quite live up to the PC version. It's true. But it doesn't suck, and there are pleasant surprises. Bisexuality is a requirement for success, which is defined by how many secrets you find out about your neighbors. To find out their deepest darkest secrets, you can flirt with them, chat them up and intimidate them. The best way is a combination of the three. It's truly easy to sit back and watch while your Sims have sex-same kisses, hugs and throw themselves to the floor in a moment of uncontained lust, so you can later sell their deepest darkest secrets for money.
