Nike+ iPod

iPod and Nike partnering for runners... this is a great start, but here's my wishlist:

  1. The earbuds that come with every iPod get slippery when sweaty, and keep falling out, even with the little black foam cover, that just winds up soggy and slippery. Please redesign or just don't include earbuds in the sports package.
  2. I wear Asics. I might try other brands, but I'm much more likely to cut a little sensor-pocket into my Asics than switch shoes.
  3. I didn't catch from the website-- does the sensor track your pace and remember which songs make you run faster? Does it take into consideration whether the song was playing at the start or end of your run? Does it compare your feelings about different songs on different days and try to figure out patterns?
  4. If it can learn which songs get you faster, then on your next run it should play the faster songs when you need the exra edge, and give you the cool-down songs at the end.
  5. Flash memory cards are so tiny! Why not just get rid of the Nano, and pop a tiny little memory card in a pocket on the shoe, like Kangaroos, and then use bluetooth earbuds? And voice-activated commands for selecting songs? All this sensor, nano, earbuds, etc. are too many little bits to accidentally lose. Plus, it's annoying to have so much gear.
  6. Actually, skip the shoes. What if you're running barefoot on the beach? There should be a little flash memory card built into my ponytail holder that could communicate with wireless earbuds.
