- An object, place, or area that reflects its history: "Spaniards in the sixteenth century . . . saw an ocean moving south . . . through a palimpsest of bayous and distributary streams in forested paludal basins" (John McPhee).
On Love: Whether romances are deep, complicated and multi-faceted, whether maintaining an enduring relationship requires more than simply, not breaking-up, whether it’s all about meeting the right person at the just the right time, whatever it is, if you haven't involved cupcakes or some other tasty treats, you might be in for trouble. Here's our advice on LOVE:
- Basic: Cook with your partner. If you haven't done it yet, grab your favorite cookbook and schedule a dinner appointment. Ask about allergies, spice levels, and wines. Ordering take-in doesn't count.
- Advanced: Go grocery shopping together before the meal.
And of course, we believe everyone should be able to marry the person they love.
On Librarianship: Sharing information is the most important thing. In kindergarten we all played telephone and whispered rumors in each other's ears. We learned this is a bad way to communicate a message, yet this seems to happen so often in organizations. First there's a meeting with senior management... and they say, "go back and tell your junior managers"... and they tell line managers... and they tell staff... now what? What was the message again? Librarianship is about information preservation & access. Oral tradition makes us uncomfortable, unless we have an audio recording that we've cataloged and preserved, and have a system for giving users access. We love how blogs make communication in organizations better. We love how blogs build community.
Everything Else: We don't think of animals as food. Sometimes cheese and eggs are food, but less and less often. We like to knit.
